Reason? Because we cant know how long a job might take us, like fixing classes, or scripting dungeons. There is always problems that show up, then they need solving ending up taking some of our time. We are trying to finish it as fast as possible because, yes we do need to release it... as everyone knows, donations are very low, so eventually Ice would have to close unless we can get PF out and rebuild the population.
